Punk Rock House Party
April 28th, 2008
I went to this sweet house show/party a couple weekends ago in Tempe through the recommendation of one Steve Cosand (see John Wayne Jefferson). So I jumped on my bike and rode down to check it out. I’m glad I went cause it kicked ass.

The first band up was Casa De Chihuahua (House of the Chihuahua), and they traveled a long ways to play for us since they were on tour from New York. Now I’ll be honest, I don’t usually listen to Bluegrass/Americana but these guys (and girl) are really great, and have really opened my eyes to some good Bluegrass.

Japanese Monsters were up next, which is Mikey Wretch’s (from Parkway Wretch) latest band. Very catchy, and great party tunes overall! Check out a show or two, they will not disappoint!

The last band of the night that I saw were Swing Ding Amigo’s from Tucscon Arizona. I know at least one of the band members is also in Shark Pants, another rad Tucscon band. These guys are definitely Hispanics causin’ panic, with some great trashy, garage punk rock! The bassist and guitarist even switched out instruments, and they still tore it up.

As for the band that played last, My Mind… I’ll have to catch them next time. They’re a local band down here in Phoenix so I’ll see them soon enough.
