When beginning to listen Vindictiveness one is unsure what to expect, especially when you read the main guy who wrote these songs Dave Secretary, is located in China. Although, this album was recorded in Canada.
Hrswhip wastes no time in winning you over with aggressive, yet melodic polyrhythmic type guitar and drum arrangements. The beat is rarely straight forward, but played very tight and combined with the guitar this album just sucks you in and puts you in a trance. Hrswhip decided to go with the most minimal of vocals with only one small vocal part in track 3.
Since Dave is in China right now, I wouldn’t put my hopes up for seeing Hrswhip perform live anytime soon. This is something we can look forward to for sure. He is however, releasing this in cassette tape format, and down the road I believe he’s going to press this on vinyl

i wrote hrswhip’s latest record in february and dean watson was kind enough to throw some microphones up in front of some drums and amps in the summer of 2007 and let me play the songs. vindictiveness was recorded in a couple of days in the basement of a church in ottawa, canada.
hopefully next year i can recruit some friends back home to play the record out live and tour a little bit.
hrswhip currently resides in a small apartment in a dirty alley in huainan, anhui (china)."
