For Fans Of: The Lawrence Arms, Operation Ivy, Leatherface

It gives me peace of mind to know that just when you think you’ve heard most bands you think you would like, you’ll go to a show or hear a new demo of some band that you never heard (or maybe you have but you didn’t appreciate it back then) and the hairs on the back of your neck raise once again. American Steel is one of those bands for me!

I first heard these guys about a month ago when I went to see The Lawrence Arms here in Tempe, AZ. My friend and I were looking to just get there in time to see The Lawrence Arms play (one of our favorites), but fortunately for us we walked in on American Steel’s set.

They immediately got into my head with some of the catchiest damn punk rock riff’s, and well sung group vocals. I’ve only heard their Rogue’s March album for the most part, but they just released an album in ’07 that I have yet to pick up.

These guys definitely left an impression on me, and will be sure to go see them play next time they come to town. Check them out!
